The Color Monster learns to identify his emotions with different colors。 He begins the book confused with all the colors swirling and gets help from a friend who helps separate them and identify them。 Love the end when a new emotion emerges and readers need to identify it。 Helpful for young readers to help recognize what they are feeling。

My preschoolers love this book。 It's getting a bit damaged, but they love it。 They feed things to the angry monster。 They make him talk。 They open the page with the hammock and leave it open, gazing upon the calm。 I love how my preschoolers love this book。 My preschoolers love this book。 It's getting a bit damaged, but they love it。 They feed things to the angry monster。 They make him talk。 They open the page with the hammock and leave it open, gazing upon the calm。 I love how my preschoolers love this book。 。。。more

This is a great intro to different emotions and how each is normal, but it is up to us how we deal with them。 It's a kid's book, so it is missing some of the complexity of mixed emotions, but it is a great discussion starter。 This is a great intro to different emotions and how each is normal, but it is up to us how we deal with them。 It's a kid's book, so it is missing some of the complexity of mixed emotions, but it is a great discussion starter。 。。。more

I really like this book。 I think this helps with identification with emotions and assigning them to a color can help students obtain a better grasp of it。 Students can connect with times they have felt a certain way。

¡Bello!

As a jaded adult I thought it was merely fine (it's good to be able to name our emotions, but do we really need to bottle them up separately?) -- but of course my 4-year-old is at a different stage, and he is completely captivated by this book and seems to find it helpful for learning to talk about emotions in the first place, which is great! :) Also, the illustration technique is just so lovely。 As a jaded adult I thought it was merely fine (it's good to be able to name our emotions, but do we really need to bottle them up separately?) -- but of course my 4-year-old is at a different stage, and he is completely captivated by this book and seems to find it helpful for learning to talk about emotions in the first place, which is great! :) Also, the illustration technique is just so lovely。 。。。more

I read a lot of books about emotions。 This one was fine。 I actually have a matching board game too! I appreciated that the feelings colours matched with self-reg zone colours but otherwise this left me wanting more。

This story is about identifying and sorting out one’s feelings。 Feelings are described metaphorically, each one given a colour and illustrated in meaningful ways, ways that students may enjoy experimenting with themselves。 I like how the last colour/feeling is unnamed so discussion can be had related to that and other potential new feelings。

One day, the Colour Monster wakes up feeling very confused because his emotions are all over the place; he feels angry, happy, calm, sad and scared all at once!
